The first ever wireless radio station in the country, called the Sound Extension Center, started functioning. Originally, on 16th December 1939, the radio service was started on the rented house of ‘Nazimuddin Road’ All India Radio. Later in 1960, the radio broadcasting center was shifted to the center of Shahbagh. During this liberation war, this center plays a unique role in our great freedom movement through the debut of ‘Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra’. On July 30, 1983, the broadcasting station of Shahbag was shifted to National Radio Building, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Agargaon.
