Thirty years ago today, August 12, 1947, WFLO in Farmville became a radio station. For several months, it had been just an assembly of wires, a tower, studios and technical equipment. Nevertheless, on this date 30 years ago, the Federal Communications Commission in Washington sent a telegram to the station giving it authority to commence broadcasting.
